Thieves Take Toys, Turkeys From Charity Drive

A Lexington group is scrambling to recover today after someone stole the gifts members were planning on giving to sick children and needy families.

The Bopsters Motorcycle Club on Shelby Street had been collecting toys for children at Shriner's Hospital and turkeys to put in food baskets for needy families.

Police say David and Charles Haddix broke into the club on Monday morning and took the toys and turkeys. Witnesses say they took those items away in broad daylight.

The men have been arrested, but police say they had already gotten rid of the stolen items. Both men are being held in the Fayette County Detention Center, facing several charges.

They Bopsters are still hoping to make Christmas bright for people in central Kentucky. If you'd like to help them by giving money, toys or food donations, you can stop by the club at 771 Shelby Street, which is at Shelby and Highlands off Louden in Lexington. You can find out more information by calling club member Billy Adams at (859) 523-0877.
