Family Copes With Loss Of Murdered Child

Updated: Fri 2:22 AM, Dec 21, 2007

The family of a murdered Winchester boy is looking to the past to cope with his loss during the holiday season. Wesley Mullin's mother and grandmother say Christmas was little Wesley's favorite holiday. This is the first they've spent without him in six years.
Wesley was found murdered in his grandfather's garage in Paris this past August. A man living with his grandfather, Lewis Buck Ballard, is accused of killing him.

To honor his memory, Wesley's family has decorated their Christmas tree with ornaments he made over the years. They also visited his gravesite this week and put up some of Wesley's favorite Christmas decorations. Wesley's grandmother tells 27NEWSFIRST everyday is still a struggle. She says Christmas this year will be empty without Wesley.

Lewis Buck Ballard will stand trial in July for the murder of Wesley Mullins. He faces the death penalty if convicted.
