Firefighters say quick action by UK employees prevented the fire from becoming worse early Friday morning.
Fire officials say physical plant workers were testing a generator in a building behind the UK Medical Center.
The fire was mostly contained to the roof of the building.
Only minimal damage was reported.
The building houses generators.
