LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A Louisville company will conduct testing
on wire rope cables that snapped and severed the feet of a teen on
an amusement park ride in June.
Jefferson Circuit Judge Barry Willet ruled Friday that IMR
Metallurgial Services-Louisville will conduct tests on the cables.
The company will pick one of two accredited labs in Ohio to test
the tensile strength of the cable.
The ruling comes in the case of 14-year-old Kaitlyn Lasitter,
and her family, who are suing Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom over the
June 21 accident on the Superman Tower of Power.
The ride, which was closed after the accident, lifted passengers
177 feet, then dropped them at speeds of more than 50 mph.
