A busy day on the roads all across Kentucky, as thousands of people began traveling to be with family and friends for Christmas.
But the holiday got off to a scary start for some on Interstate 75 in Lexington Friday night, after three cars collided near the Winchester Road exit.
Police say all three were traveling down at high speeds, very close together.
When the first car slammed on its breaks, it created an unavoidable chain reaction.
Three people had to be rushed to the hospital for their injuries.
One of those people was actually trapped in their vehicle and had to be removed with the Jaws of Life.
Police say they hope to cut down on the chance of more accidents over the weekend by targeting the interstate and Hamburg area for dangerous driving habits.
