A Fayette County Corrections officer accused of giving prescription drugs to inmates is due in court today.
29-year old John Cockrell of Georgetown is charged with promoting contraband. Cockrell was arrested after a month-long internal affairs investigation at the Blackburn Correctional Facility.
Cockrell tells 27 NEWSFIRST, the drugs were prescription, and that he never intended to give the drugs to inmates.
