Lexington Ranks As 17th Most Literate City

When it comes to being book smart, Lexington is on the move.

Lexington moved up 13 spots to become the 17th most literate city in America for 2007.

Topping Central Connecticut State University's list are Minneapolis, Seattle, St. Paul, Denver and Washington, DC.

Everything from newspaper circulation to the number of libraries and bookstores determine the rankings.

In our region, Lexington scored better than Nashville, Columbus, Indianapolis and Louisville, but just six spots behind 11th-ranked Cincinnati.
