Man Shot, Killed By State Police

BEDFORD, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky state police say a 39-year-old man was shot and killed yesterday by two Kentucky state troopers.

State police say Darrell Corley of Trimble County approached Sgt. Howard Rice and Trooper Kyle Moffett, with a knife while they investigated a call.

The troopers shot Corley, who was pronounced dead at the scene. State police say the troopers were called by a woman, who said
Corley was violating a domestic violence order. The troopers found Corley a short distance from the woman's home and in possession of a large knife.

Troopers say Corley refused to drop the knife, prompting the shooting.

Rice, a 9-year-veteran, and Moffett, a 2-year-veteran, were placed on paid administrative leave pending an investigation.
