Judge Rules Against Families Of Comair Crash Victims

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - A federal judge has ruled family members
of the 49 people killed in a Comair plane crash can't collect
monetary damages for the loss of companionship.
U.S. District Judge Karl Forester this week dismissed several
claims filed by some of the estates of the victims of the August
2006 crash. He cited a controversial Kentucky law that stipulates
family members aren't entitled to compensation for the loss of a
spouse, adult child or parent of an adult child. They can still sue
for loss of enjoyment of life and pain and suffering.
Kathy Ryan, whose husband was killed in the crash, says she'll
continue asking the General Assembly to change the law.
