SHELBIANA, KY -- Kentucky State Police Friday busted an illegal gambling operation in Shelbiana and arrested a Pike County man in connection with the bust.

The suspect arrested has been identified as 58-year old Larry Adkins of 3030 Greasy Creek Rd. in Shelbiana. He has been charged with eight counts of promoting gambling in the first degree.

A KSP news release reports Troopers Jimmy Anderson and Kevin Thacker were on routine patrol in the Shelbiana area of Pike County when they observed a suspicious male subject walking around a business that was cosed.

The troopers also observed several vehicles parked in front of an unsecured door at the back of the business. Upon further investigation, they discovered an illegal gambling operation.

The officers located and seized several gambling slot machines and an undetermined amount of cash from the location. The KSP say the accused confessed to the troopers that he was the one running the operation. He was arrested at the scene without incident.
