A fire broke out Wednesday at a Richmond apartment building, leaving much of it in ruins.
The fire started around 5 p.m. at the three story unit on North Keeneland Drive.
Firefighters say the fire started at a unit on the bottom floor, and quickly spread upstairs.
They were able to put the fire out in less than an hour, but it still caused extensive damage.
Firefighters first thought a handicapped woman was trapped in one of the units. But neighbors were able to help her to safety.
No one was injured.
An investigation is now underway into how the fire started.
