A hearing was held Tuesday morning to figure out whether a Boyle County man, charged with murdering his neighbor, can be buried in a veteran's cemetery.
82-year-old Jack Caldwell served in the military and wanted to buried at Camp Nelson Cemetery in Jessamine County, next to his wife.
However, a federal statute prohibits the burial of veterans charged with a capital crime.
Therefore, officials at Camp Nelson denied Caldwell's family's request to bury him there after his death.
Caldwell was never convicted of his neighbor's death. He died during the trial.
