Lexington Venture Club honors dozens of young companies

Dozens of young central Kentucky companies were recognized Wednesday night for doing their part to help strengthen the economy.

The Lexington Venture Club honored 78 companies during an event at Buster's Billards and Backroom.

The Venture Club says the companies stepped up in 2011 to contribute to the long-term growth and prosperity of Lexington's economy.

"They've raised money in the community, whether it's federal, state, or private equity," Warren Nash of the Lexington Innovation and Commercialization Center said. "They are moving their technologies into the marketplace. They're creating jobs."

The Lexington Venture Club is co-managed by the University of Kentucky and Commerce Lexington.
