Some people woke up to find snow falling outside.
Flakes started falling in Central Kentucky just before 5:30 Thursday morning. The flakes eventually tapered off to some freezing drizzle.
Several school systems closed due to the wintry weather. It also made a tricky commute for drivers this morning.
An advisory was in effect in central and south-central Kentucky, where about 1 inch of snow was expected following a mix of snow, sleet and light rain.
In eastern Kentucky, as much as 3 inches of snow was expected in higher elevations near the Virginia border.
