Heavy smoke could be seen miles from the Bluegrass Station on Briar Hill Rd, as numerous fire trucks rushed to battle the fire that tore through Thermo Spray, an insulation business.
Approximately fifty fire fighters from both Fayette and Clark counties teamed up to battle the flames that shot up into the sky shortly after 7 p.m. Saturday.
Chief Bob Hendricks with the Lexington Fire Department said the metal clad building was destroyed and declared a total loss.
At one point, firefighters were asked to evacuate after the roof of the building collapsed.
Fire officials say the frigid temperatures and high winds made it more difficult to tackle the intense flames. Luckily, no one was in the building and no evacuations were made. However, one firefighter suffered minor injuries to his left hand.
