Kentucky National Guard Unit Returns Home

They've been waiting for this day for more than a year.

Monday, 167 Kentucky National Guard soldiers returned to the bluegrass, after a long tour of duty in Iraq.

They flew into Louisville this afternoon, where their families were waiting to greet them.

Members of Battery C, 2nd Battalion, 138th Field Artillery departed Kentucky for Iraq in October, 2006.

The Bardstown-based unit performed force protection missions, guarded military installations, ran security checkpoints, and supported security details for Operation Iraqi Freedom.
