PINEVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A one-time candidate for circuit clerk in an eastern Kentucky county attorney's office has been charged with destroying public records.
Sonya Parrott Akers, who lost a bid for Bell County Circuit Clerk of Court in 2007, faces a charge of tampering with public records. Akers left her job as a secretary in the Bell County Attorney's Office in January.
Bell County Attorney Neil Ward said Akers apparently returned to the office on Jan. 3, after she had left her job, and stole or destroyed records.
