Three Injured, One Critically, In Owsley County Wreck

OWSLEY COUNTY, KY -- Three people were injured, one critically, in a single car wreck last night in rural Owsley County. All three victims were flown to the University of Kentucky Medical Center for treatment.

Kentucky State Police say the collision occured about 9 p.m. Saturday on Fish Creek Loop Road near Booneville.

Investigating Trooper Starlin Hacker says 26-year old Holly Renee Johnson, of 151 Manor Drive Apartments in Beattyville, (in Lee County) apparently failed to negotiate a curve in her sedan, careened off the right side of the road over an embankment and struck a tree.

Authorities say Ms. Johnson and a passenger in the front seat with her, 39-year-old James Bowling, address not listed, both were not wearing seatbelts and sustained significant injuries.

A three-year old in the vehicle, riding in the back , was restrained in a booster seat and sustained apparent minor injuries.

All three were airlifted to the University of Kentucky Medical Center for treatment.

According to the KSP news release, Holly Johnson was listed in serious condition as of early Sunday evening, but no condition was available as of Sunday morning. James Bowling was listed as in serious condition Sunday morning. The toddler was listed as "stable."

Trooper Hacker is continuing his investigation of the mishap. Assisting as the scene of the accident were Owsley County Sheriff's Deputy Jonathon Moore, Allen's Ambulance Service and members of the Owsley County Fire Department.
