A Whitley County Sheriff's Deputy was discharged Tuesday from the University of Kentucky hospital where he was taken after a serious car crash.
The accident happened around 5:30pm Monday night on the Hal Rogers Parkway in Laurel County.
Whitley County Deputy Josh Wolfe was on his way back home after dropping off a prisoner at a Hazard hospital when his cruiser collided head-on with an SUV.
The accident shutdown the parkway between London and Manchester for a couple of hours Monday night.
State police tell us Deputy Wolfe lost control of his cruiser after passing a car on the wet roadway, hit a guard rail and crossed into on-coming traffic.
KSP tell us speed was a factor.
Whitley County Sheriff Lawrence Hodge tells us Deputy Wolfe suffered a broken neck.
Deputy Wolfe is now being treated for his injuries at the UK Hospital.
At last check he was listed in fair condition.
The other driver was taken to a local hospital, his injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.
Sheriff Hodge tells us Deputy Wolfe is also a part time paramedic in Whitley County.
He's also a member of the Kentucky National Guard and just returned from Iraq a few months ago.
