GEORGETOWN, Ky. (AP) - An outbreak of the flu in Scott County has forced officials to close schools on Thursday and Friday.
Superintendent Dallas Blankenship said the school district consulted with local physicians and hospitals before deciding that giving the student body a few days to rest may be the best medicine.
Blankenship said attendance was at 84 percent on Wednesday, with many of the missing students home battling the bug.
The district plans to reopen schools on Monday, but could push it back another day or two if the situation worsens.
