Woman Seriously Injured In Interstate Crash With Semi-Truck

Treacherous weather lead to some major problems for drivers early Tuesday morning in Bath County.

Interstate-64 had to be shut down for several hours after a serious crash involving a semi-truck at mile marker 116.

The interstate looked like an ice-skating rink after freezing rain poured from the sky all night & through early Tuesday morning. A tractor trailer headed east jack-knifed after hitting a rock embankment around 4 this morning.

27NEWSFIRST spoke with the driver of the semi-truck, he explains how it happened.

"Last thing I know, I just ducked and went under the steering wheel, everything started spinning, saw her truck coming & said thank god, they are gonna miss me," says the truck driver.

Rescue workers say it took two hours and the jaws of life to get the woman out of her truck. She was taken to the hospital with severe injuries to her legs.
