Man Says Shooting Was In Self Defense

A Montgomery County man is dead after he was shot in the head multiple times early Sunday morning at a house on Bell Farm Road.

Police say Greg Rudd, 46, of Jeffersonville, Ky., was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man police say pulled the trigger, Mike Dunn, tells 27NEWSFIRST in an interview he had no choice but to shoot Rudd.

"It was self defense, he pointed his gun at me and said, 'I'm going to kill you.'" said Dunn.

Dunn went on to say he only went to find out why Rudd and another man were on his property without his permission, but when he approached the men, he says things turned ugly.

"I was backed in to a corner, I feel sick now, I wish it never happened, but I had no choice," said Dunn.

Police spent several hours on the property investigating. At this time, no arrests have been made and the investigation continues.

"I just hope the family can forgive me, I feel horrible, it just happened so fast," Dunn said.

Greg Rudd is survived by two sons.

The shooting is still under investigation.
