A line of strong to severe storms will race across central and eastern Kentucky over the next several hours.
Kentucky Utilities has set up a special command center to deal with the problems from the sleet and ice. KU officials say they've been preparing for that past few days, because they knew wintry weather was on the way.
KU says they will continue to monitor the situation and keep in close contact with areas already dealing with the storm. If you run into problems with your power there are some things the city wants you to remember: Always stay away from downed power lines or anything they touch. Damage to parts of your electrical service, like the box outside your home, should be checked out by KU or an electrician before the power is turned back on. Also, always be careful using alternative sources of heat, they can create both a fire and carbon monoxide hazard.
