Something you'd normally find in the tropics turned up in a Franklin County neighborhood Wednesday.

Franklin County Sheriff Pat Melton says a family on Westover Road in Frankfort found the iguana outside their home.

They called the sheriff's office, who sent a deputy to pick up the lizard.

Now, the sheriff says he's trying to figure out where the iguana came from.

"It's been turned over to the humane society," Melton said. "Obviously, it is a unique animal. We're hoping that someone will identify it. We're sure it's gotten out of somebody's house."

If you know who the iguana belongs to, you're asked to call the Franklin County Sheriff's Office at 502-875-8740.
