Firefighters are warning smokers to be careful where they throw their cigarettes.
Lexington firefighters say in the past few days, they've stayed busy putting out mulch and grass fires, caused by cigarettes thrown on the ground.
They say the dry mulch and grass can cause the fires to spread quickly.
They also say many of the fires have happened very close to buildings.
Firefighters say smokers should only throw cigarettes in designated containers, and not on the ground.
Right now, Lexington does not have a burn ban, but firefighters say they're keeping a close eye on the dry weather, and may issue a burn ban if we don't get any rain soon.
