Crumbling Frankfort Road Closed

Recent rain, snow and ice may be to blame for the closure of a road in Franklin County. Briar Cliff had to be shut down after part of the road crumbled away earlier this month.

Neighbors and city leaders say they want the problem to be fixed as soon as possible. Neighbors say the road has been leaning for some time and finally crumbled away after last week's ice storm.

The pavement fell onto Old Lawrenceburg Road, which sits below Briar Cliff. Luckily, no one was injured.

Mayor Bill May says city engineers are working with engineers for the state to look into the problem and come up with a solution. He says he hopes to have some sort of decision and perhaps start fixing the road by next week.

Geo-technical surveyors have also been to the scene to take samples.

Neighbors say for now, they're just watching and waiting and hoping the problem doesn't get any worse.
