Surprise Guilty Plea From Suspect In Violent Home Invasion

A man charged with shooting at a couple during a home invasion in Lexington has entered a surprise guilty plea.

Police say Christopher Moberly broke into a home on Squires Road in June and then fired some shots at the homeowners. They escaped by jumping out a second story window. The woman broke her leg.

On Friday morning in court, Moberly entered a guilty plea to first degree burglary, attempted manslaughter and attempted murder. The prosecution recommended a 15 year prison sentence.

Moberly says the shooting was part of a drug deal gone wrong. He says he went to the wrong home.

He'll be sentenced later this year.
