Man injured in hatchet attack dies

A man injured in a hatchet attack in Bourbon County has died.

The Fayette County coroner's office says 39-year-old Christopher Mitchell died at UK Hospital just after 2 p.m. Wednesday.

The attack happened at a home on Townsend Valley Road in Bourbon County Tuesday night.

Mitchell's wife told WKYT he confronted his neighbor, Daniel Carter, over some stolen property.

From jail Wednesday, Carter told us he hit Mitchell in the heat with a hatchet in self-defense.
