BEREA, Ky. (AP) - A former city employee in a small eastern Kentucky town has been indicted on theft charges.
City officials in Berea say Laura K. Brandenburg likely pocketed more than $10,000. The former administrative assistant was in charge of collecting city fees from developers in the planning and developing office.
She was fired after her supervisors found discrepancies in financial records. She was indicted on Thursday.
Mayor Steve Connelly says the incident has prompted a review of who is allowed to handle money.
Brandenburg worked for the city for about 2½ years.
