FLOYD COUNTY, KY -- A Wayland man was killed Saturday evening by a falling rock that landed on the cab of his truck as he was driving on Ky. Route 80 in the Martin area of Floyd County.
A Kentucky State Police news release did not specify the size of the rock or the extent of the damage to the truck, but the driver, 37-year old Frank. M. Baldridge was declared dead at the scene by Floyd County Deputy Coroner Greg Nelson. The accident happened about 7:30 p.m.
KSP officers are continuing their investigation of the mishap. The lead investigating officer is Trooper B. J. Caudill. Other officers involved were Sgt. Ronald Peppi, Trooper William Petry, and Trooper Eric Gibson.
The TransStar Ambulance Serice, the Martin County Fire Dept., The Kentucky Highway Dept., The Martin City Police Dept., Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement, the Floyd County Sheriff's Dept. and the Floyd County Coroner's Office all assisted in working the accident.
