Police: Lexington Infant Died From Suffocation

Police in Lexington are investigating the tragic death of an infant.

The 4-month-old child died after suffocating in the night and police believe it was likely an accident.

Investigators say the baby boy was in bed asleep with his mother, when the woman's 2-year-old daughter crawled into bed with them. At that point, police believe the girl fell asleep on top of her brother, causing him to suffocate.

When the mother woke up and found her baby was not breathing, she called 911.

The baby was pronounced dead at the hospital on Wednesday morning.
