LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A Louisville man faces between 30 years and life in prison after being convicted by a federal jury of gun and drug charges.
U.S. Attorney David J. Hale says 42-year-old Andrew Fields was a repeat offender when he was charged in 2011 with selling crack cocaine out of an apartment in Louisville. Prosecutors also said Fields had a fully loaded AK 47 assault rifle. Fields had been convicted in 1993 of carjacking and possessing a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence and was prohibited from carrying a gun.
The jury returned the verdict Thursday after a two-day trial in Louisville.
Fields is scheduled to be sentenced on October 19 at 1 p.m. EDT.
