Sheriff's deputy injured in crash

A Madison County sheriff's deputy is recovering after police say a car hit his cruiser Friday morning.

The crash happened just before 8 a.m. on U.S. 25 south of Berea.

Police say a woman, driving a car, looked away from the road to adjust her radio, and tapped her brakes. Police say the woman then lost control of the car, went off the shoulder of the road, and hit Deputy James Thompson's cruiser.

At the time, police say Thompson's cruiser was parked in a gravel lot beside the road, so he could do some paperwork.

Police say Thompson was taken to a Berea hospital for precautionary reasons. He was treated and released. The driver of the car was not injured.
