Heavy snow is taking its time moving through the state of Kentucky. This will be a historic once its all said and done with a few spots around a foot of snow.
Hazmat crews returned to the scene of a chemical spill at a plant in Nicholasville Monday morning.
Firefighters say workers at McKechnie Vehicle Components on John Watts Drive were trying to mix sulfuric acid and hydrogen peroxide when 200 gallons spilled just before 4:30 a.m.
Workers evacuated the plant while emergency workers contained the spill to the back of the building.
Firefighters said there was no threat to the public and no threat of a chemical cloud.
Workers were allowed to go back inside the building just before 6:30 a.m. However, after 7 a.m., ambulances returned to the scene after some workers complained of the fumes.
The plant was evacuated for a second time as a decontamination unit was set up.
The plant re-opened late Monday morning.
