Fuel spill shuts down part of busy road

Updated: Thu 4:21 PM, Aug 16, 2012

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Part of West Loudon Avenue has been closed near Newtown Pike because of a fuel spill.

Emergency crews say workers on a dump truck knocked a valve open, while dumping a load at the old Eastern State Hospital.

We're told about 25 gallons of fuel then spilled from that valve, onto West Loudon Avenue.

Crews are now working to clean up the spilled fuel from the road.

Emergency crews say westbound West Loudon Avenue, at Newtown Pike, is expected to be closed through at least 5 p.m., because of the spill.
