Just a few weeks remain and the most important issue...the budget..is still unresolved. And the impasse between the Governor and members of his own party remains.
Governor Beshear doesn't agree with a House budget that's now on its way to the Senate. The spending plan raises taxes on cigarettes and some services. But the Governor also fears its affect on some social services and state jobs. But Budget committee chairman says the Governor needs to back their plan..and stop worrying..and spreading fear.
Next up for the budget is the Senate..where the tax hikes are going to have a hard sell.
The Governor is expected to appeal to the Senate for possibly a different plan than the house passed. Some house leaders question his motives.
