Emergency Landing Shuts Down Blue Grass Airport

It's a flight a Franklin County family will never forget. Their small plane made an emergency landing around 3:30 Sunday afternoon, when its nose gear failed and the pilot was forced to land the plane on its belly. The plane circled Blue Grass several times, but the pilot was worried the plane would run out of fuel and decided to put it down.

Four people, including two children, were on board. No one was hurt. The plane, which took off from Frankfort was stranded on the runway for nearly three hours before crews could haul it away. 6 flights were canceled and three other incoming flights were diverted to other cities. The airport gave the all clear for the runway to reopen just before 6:00pm Sunday.
