Panel Approves Plan For Stricter Rules On Amusement Park Rides

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - A Kentucky House panel has approved a
measure that would require daily self-inspections of amusement park
rides and raise the minimum age for operators.

Republican Sen. Tom Jensen of London says the plan should make
amusement park carnival rides across the state safer. Jensen says the proposal will require operators to be at least 18 years old and only handle one ride at a time. Jensen sponsored the bill.

Last year, 14-year-old Kaitlyn Lasitter's feet were severed while on a ride at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom in Louisville.

The plan heads to the full House for consideration.
