Very slow moving showers and thunderstorms will move into our area overnight and Sunday. The potential for flooding will be heightened in southern and eastern Kentucky.
A couple is gunned down outside their home and their neighbor is accused of killing them.
It happened on Sunflower Lane in the Abbott Creek area of Floyd County. Police say an ongoing dispute led to the deaths of 47 year old Alan Tackett and his 30 year old wife Lisa. 45 year old Berry Hall is accused of killing them with a rifle.
Alan and Lisa Tackett and Berry Hall live right next door to each other, and Hall is Lisa's uncle, but their family says the three were not friends, yet they never thought it would come to this.
Lisa Tackett's mother says the couple and Hall started arguing several years ago.
"My daughter's husband had a few words over an old dog one time," said Gladys Harvis.
Neighbors say the latest fight was over the driveway. They say Hall thought the couple was blocking his side. Police say Hall used a rifle and shot both Alan and Lisa Tackett outside his home on his porch. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers arrested Hall without any problems and took him to jail. Investigators are still trying to figure out what went wrong.
"Kentucky State Police is continually investigating and obtaining evidence at the scene, and we'll continue doing that until the scene is cleared," said Scott Hopkins with the Kentucky State Police.
Lisa Tackett leaves behind six children under the age of nine. Family members say four were home when the shooting happened. Their grandmother doesn't know if they'll ever recover.
"She was a wonderful person, a caring person, she loved her children and took care of her children," Harvis said.
Now the children will only have memories of their mother.
Police removed the children from the home and they're with family members.
Berry Hall is charged with two counts of murder and is being held in the Floyd County Detention Center.
