House Judiciary Committee Won't Hear Immigration Bill

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - A bill to crack down on illegal immigrants
in Kentucky and some companies that employ them won't get a vote in
the House Judiciary Committee.
Chairwoman Kathy Stein made that announcement Friday.
The bill would make it a felony to use a false identity to appear to be a legal resident. It also would require jail officials to identify and report undocumented immigrants in their custody so that they could be deported.
The measure also would sanction companies that receive public
money and knowingly hire illegal immigrants.
