A busy central Kentucky road was shut down all Monday morning after a crash that sent a woman to the hospital.
A semi truck driver says he was stopped at the intersection of U.S. 27 and Highway 169 in Jessamine County, when he felt someone rear-end his vehicle. The crash happened right in front of the Lowe's store.
Police say Roxanne Luna didn't stop when she approached the light. She hit the back of the tractor trailer so hard that she ended up underneath the trailer. The driver of the semi says he felt the impact, but could hardly see the car in his rear view mirror because it was under the truck.
It took rescue crews at least 30 minutes to cut her out of the car.
Luna was taken to UK hospital where she's in serious condition. Her son, who was in the back seat, was not hurt.
There were also two dogs in the car. They were taken to an animal hospital to be checked out.
The road was shut down for about 4 hours, but everything is now back to normal.
