Man Arrested After High Speed Chase Through Two Counties

A man is facing several charges after police say he led them on a chase from Richmond to Lexington.

Police say it all started when Gary Wallace broke into a home in Madison County. Police say he took jewelry and some other items from the home. Police say the homeowner's father pulled up to see Wallace getting into his car and started chasing him.

Police joined in and the chase ended up on I-75 and speeds reached up to 120 miles per hour. The chase ended when Wallace bailed out of his car near the intersection of Lexington's Louden Avenue and Magoffin. Police say over the course of the chase, Wallace rammed three cruisers.

Wallace was taken to the Madison County jail. He's facing charges of burglary, wanton endangerment and fleeing and evading. Police say more charges are expected.

Police credit good communication and an alert homeowner for the quick capture.
