Charges are looming in the case of the Jessamine County house found full of trash.

On Monday, firefighters were called to the scene of a possible fire at a home on Peachtree Road but instead found a house so trashed they could barely get to the fire.

Mayor Russ Meyer had to call in an environmental clean-up crew to get the trash out of the house. He says the cost will be passed on to the homeowner.

Family and friends gathered at the house to help with the clean up on Tuesday, but police say Vicki Mock, the person living in the home, may now need to start looking for legal help.

Captain Chris Cain of the Nicholasville Police Department says Mock will likely face neglect charges since she had a teenager living in the house with her. Cain says the charges against Mock will come once the investigation is complete.

Anonymous - it's STAPH. Staff is either something you walk with or a group of people you assemble to perform a job...

It is very sad for the children to have had to endure a home environment like this most of their lives. Yes she has done volunteer work outside of the home, but as a ruse to fool the outside world about the true nature of her home life..as anonymous said below..if not for the fire then "no one would be none the wiser", that is the key..she needed something like this to expose her shell of a life, so that society can force her to get real help for her life. I feel sorry for the children who had to endure this embarassment, but their mother needs real help..she can't get that by hiding behind a wall of garbage. People..she needs psychological help. Children have to learn that mothers can be at odds with normal society, her behavior should not be learned, nor her life emulated by anyone, least of all her children. To support one's parent is noble, but to blindly follow is folly. He needs to realize she is not normal and needs help. This is a blessing in disguise if she gets the help needed.

I have known this person for well over a year and had no idea that the house was in the condition that it was found. Now I know why I was never allowed in the house. If I had known about it, I would have certainly adressed the situation. The fact remains that she is the best person I have ever met. She is a giver, a helper and a loyal friend to many. If you knew her, you would never had guessed that this situation existed. I have yet to discuss the issue with her because I honestly don't know where to start. How do you ask someone," Why didn't you have you're trash picked up?"

If you people really cared about the children in this situation, you'd stop blasting her name and her child's information on the airwaves. If this happened to your mother, would you want to face school the next day? How would it feel in those hollowed halls of taunts and teasing that your mother had a garage full of trash? If people really thought he was neglected, wouldn't the school system have reported it to the child care services? In all cases like this, do any of you who gossip monger truly think of the children who have to now worry about what cruel people like you have to say about their mother? How would it feel to find out on your 18th birthday that your mother may go to jail? Think about that.

This person is a good person. She has volunteered for the community in the schools and other organizations for a good 20 years and she works hard to provide for her kids. The child never felt abused or neglected. The child is an adult now and chooses to be with the mother. The inside of the house was nothing like what the news says. She was working on cleaning the place up.If the fire had never happened, no one would be none the wiser. What she needs is support, not criticism. How do you think she feels? What about her children? How much do you think it hurts them when they find out that their mother may face jail & that people think she is scum? They know she is a good person and a great mother. If they didn't, they wouldn't have lived with her.It was her younger child's birthday. What a great birthday present that was to find out his mother will/might go to jail. She shouldn't go to jail. A heavy fine, pay for the clean up & probation/volunteer work. How will she fix her problems in jail?

I don't understand how in this world a person could let thier house get so full of trash that firefighters can't get to the fire. I maybe could if the person was elderly and living alone with no relatives to help take care of them. Maybe. But this woman has a teenager. I have 4 girls, one being a teenager and I know that my house isn't spotless but we clean everyday. They each take turns having a day doing dishes and they help fold laundry and just little things like that. We all pitch in and do it together. There just really isn't any sense in anyone's house getting in that shape.

Actually I know her she is an ICU nurse at UK hospital. It costs money for trash collecting in Maysville. She didnt want to pay it so she just simply left it in the house!

This person obviously needs professional help. She must have some type of mental disorder. She shouldn't be put in jail for that! I'm sure no one wants to live that way, including her. Please get her some counseling!

While I think it's appalling that someone would live in such deplorable conditions I don't think that we need another person in our already overcrowded jails....not when there are drug dealers, thugs, and other persistent felons still running the streets. This woman obviously needs help and if neighbors had alerted authorities about the problem to no avial...well, shame on the powers-that-be in Jessamine Co. I truly feel for the child and hope that this time someone will address this issue. The mother needs to be in counseling and the child needs to be in a clean, safe environment. I'm surprised they aren't both ill from living in such filth.

From 1997 forward city and county officials were warned several times about her behavior. They would not spot check, but gave her enough advance notice that friends and family could clean things up somewhat before they made an official inspection...they failed this child and the older child that lived with her at the time by their lack of speedy follow up.

Has anyone even thought that this woman may have some type of hording problem that she needs to seek help for. We don't know the situation we can only see the garbage and things piled up outside the house we cant see inside of her life. Oprah Winfrey has had people like this on her show and there is usually a reason that people are like this to this extreme. I hope that this woman gets help and not criticism from her friends and family. I am sure that she is already feeling shame for how she is living and the conditions she is putting her child in. I believe that she needs help and my prayers are with her.

I saw this house after the fire trucks arrived and opened the garage door to this house. It DID look like a Rumpke dump, and it was the most bizarre thing I have ever seen. How any one could live like that is beyond me. I heard a few people who worked this scene (police and fire) say that the smell was overwhelming from the rotten meat and other items that were kept in a nonfunctioning refrigerator in the back of the garage. I think the mayor did the right thing to get the scene cleared up immediately; although, I am sure it didn't "hurt" that our previous mayor lives just houses down from where this lady lived........

Ever wonder why we cant seem to kill lice and roaches no matter how much we try using chemicals and keepin out homeds clean? People like these love to keep them with them, not to mention the recent bedbug problem thats popped up so bad that Clevland OH made it mandatory that tentants had to have bedbugs taken care of or be fined.

my my my. bet she didnt have any garbage bills?if it all was in the house

Her poor neighboors. What trash to live in trash!! It amazes me what people live in.

Posted by: Peeeew Location: Ky on Mar 25, 2008 at 08:50 AM
Sounds like the place all the rats from the house last year went to.How can anyone live that way? Nasty, nasty, nasty the child shouldn't be back with it's parents in filth like that.

Posted by: Tiffany Location: Nicholasville on Mar 24, 2008 at 07:21 PM
The homeowners should feel ashamed of this situation and for having a child live in that kind of filth. It's just unbelievable! WOW! To me it's like they were living in the midst of Rumpke dump. There should be jail time for this and she should not have custody of her child. Thats my feelings on it and I could just go on!!
