A Tennessee couple appeared in a Rowan County courtroom on Wednesday afternoon to answer to murder charges.

James and Katherine Conn entered not guilty pleas.

They're charged in the shooting death of Timmy Riggs. He was shot in the back in October outside his home in the Clearfield community.

Investigators say James Conn killed Riggs because Conn believed Riggs was responsible for his son's accidental drug overdose.

Katherine Conn is charged with complicity to commit murder.

They are scheduled to go on trial in August.

There are still a lot of us in Ky that are proud to be here. Murders happen every day in every state. Sounds like you just like to watch, read or listen to Ky news. Must be an interest there.

This man pleaded not guilty to murder but he can't deny stabbing a fellow inmate with a plastic knife, since this happened in the cell. Obviously, this is an evil man that needs to be kept locked up, out of the community. I hear he also requested to be transferred to another jail while he awaits trial.
