Public pressure has apparently led to the rejection of a plan in Madison County that would have turned a nature preserve into an RV park.

Richmond city commissioners voted to rescind a lease for the park at Camp Catalpa, near Lake Reba.

Developers had proposed a 100 to 150 space park, with the city receiving 10 percent of the park's gross sales.

The Commission reversed its unanimous vote for the development, which had come only a month earlier, after a grass roots campaign against it.

Thats right, finally a blow to the corrupt government of richmond! They force their backwards ways and corrupt love of money on the citizens daily. They tried to slip one past everyone by naming the proposal “Net Ground Lease” Without mentioning Camp Catalpa clearly anywhere in the wording. If it wasnt for the local paper no one would have known till the bulldozers moved out the bird sanctuary. Its time for richmond to get a new set of 5 and make it 20 and diverse not just 40-60yrold rich people.
