LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - The curtain will go up in Lexington Friday night for one of the most beloved operas of all time.

The UK Opera Theater will deliver its opening performance of 'Phantom of the Opera.'

It's the first time the show has been performed here in Lexington.

The final rehearsal was held Thursday night, and show organizers say it's on tap to be record setting.

"The students are very excited, the orchestra is very excited," Dr. Everett McCorvey, director of the UK Opera Theater said. "Tickets are selling very well. It's turning out to be the most tickets sold for an event at the Lexington Opera House."

There are ten performances of the show, running from Friday, through October 14.

Tickets are only available at the Lexington Center ticket office, or by phone.

'Phantom of the Opera' is being performed at the Lexington Opera House.
