Curtain goes up for 'Phantom of the Opera'

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - On Friday night, the chandelier crashed as the University of Kentucky Opera Theatre brought Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Phantom of the Opera" to Lexington for the first time.

Music lovers crowded into the Lexington Opera House for the opening night performance.

More than 250 people are involved in this production.

Some of the roles are triple-cast, and there are two orchestras, to give as many students as possible the thrill of being part of it all.

Performances of "Phantom of the Opera" will continue through October 14, although most of the shows have already sold out.

However, it was announced Friday night that an extra performance has been added to meet the demand.

You can get tickets for the show in person at the Lexington Center Ticket Office, or by phone.
