Fire Chief Roger Friley says the woman and boy who died Friday were found in a bedroom of the single-story home in Jackson.
A teenage boy escaped from another bedroom in the home and ran to a neighbor's house to call the fire department. He was taken to a hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.
Friley says the blaze started about 2 a.m. It took only minutes for crews to knock down the flames. But, Carolyn Napier and her son Jesse were dead by the time firefighters reached them.
Officials believe the fire was electrical. They say there were no smoke detectors in the home, which may have been what turned the fire into a tradgedy.
