The cold front is now working into eastern Kentucky with winds gusting to near 40mph at times. Temps have dropped into the 30s behind the front and we've had reports of sleet and snow mixing with the rain in Lexington.
April showers may bring May flowers, but April also brings road construction.
The Kentucky Department of Transportation says April is the unofficial beginning of road construction season. Crews were out today filling potholes on Todds Road in Lexington.
Every year tens of thousands of people are injured or killed in construction zone accidents. Fifteen people were killed in Kentucky work zones last year.
Today the DOT took time to remind people to be aware and alert when traveling through these construction sites.
Ronnie Johnson with the DOT said "The people who work in these zones are moms, dads, brothers and sisters just like you and me."
He went on to say they are in danger everyday because of where they work and they are placing their lives in your hands.
Today begins National Work Zone Safety Week.
