Police: Inmate serving time for rape walks away from jail

HARDIN COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Police need your help finding an inmate they say walked away from jail.

Kentucky State Police say 23-year-old Robert W. Wilson escaped from the old Hardin County Jail Friday.

They say he was waiting to be moved to the new jail, and was sitting in a chair, when a corrections worker went to get Wilson's belongings for transport.

When the worker returned, police say Wilson was gone.

Police say the door to the outside activity area of the jail was not locked. They also say the jail's outside gate was locked, but could still be opened and closed.

Investigators think Wilson walked away.

Police say Wilson is a white man, 6'1", 150 pounds, with blonde hair, and blue eyes. They say he has a light complexion and a thin build.

Police say Wilson was serving time for rape.

Anyone with information on Wilson's whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Kentucky State Police at (270) 766-5078 or (800) 222-5555.
